Setting sail
I was looking at some old photos of the boys a few days ago and I saw that photo of Chris sailing in Greece when he was about 9 years old. He was sitting in this sailing boat on his own going out in the sea, full of convidence, courage, passion and braveness. I remember Kira and me being so, so, soooo proud of him!!!
The wind was not too strong, but also not too weak… it felt just right. I remember that the tricky part was that the wind was changing quite often and a part of me was thinking: ‘ will he actually manage to come back and set the sail in the right direction to come back..?’
So, I am looking at this photo and it suddenly hit me!!
Isn’t that how you create a successful, fulfilled life?
I suddenly saw the formula clearly in my mind… and i mean crystal clear..
Firstly you know where you want to go!!!
And then you use the wind to get there and know how to set the sail to use the wind regardless of its direction!
Here is what i mean by that. It’s impossible to control the wind when we sail and so it is impossible to control the circumstances, the environment in our lives. We can’t control the economy, we can’t control the weather, we can’t control what others do or believe…etc…
But we can use the circumstances and the environment to go where we want to go… we can use the wind from whatever direction it is blowing!!
In order to do that we must be crystal clear on where we want to go.
Chris knew where he wanted to go and he knew how to set the sail to get there.
You are most probably not aware of what an important lesson you taught me here, but thank you Chris for being such an example on how to ‘use the wind’ . Thank you for teaching me such an important lesson in life!!!
